Money Saving Meals

Frugal Meals Save Money On Grocery Bills

Discover how money saving meals can save money on grocery bills and save you time as well. If you and your partner both work, making meals can be difficult. If you're anything like me, it's the last thing you feel like doing after a tiring day at work.

However, there is a way you can prepare delicious and healthy meals and save time and money too.

Here's an example of how you can prepare a simple home-cooked meal in advance while saving money on food:

Step One

First, check the weekend papers to see what's on sale at the neighborhood supermarket. Clip coupons you can use, then go online and check out the various coupon websites and print out more coupons if they apply.

As food prices rise, more and more families are utilizing money saving coupons these days, along with checking ads in weekend papers and store flyers to purchase items on sale.

Store brand items are also becoming very popular. Most are every bit as good as the brand-name items and are sometimes manufactured by the same food-processing company that supplies the more-expensive premium brands. So, why pay for a brand name when it's the same food?

Now, using sale items and store brand items as best you can, prepare a week's menu of meals. Ask for everyone's input so no one can complain that the meals aren't to their liking.

Step Two

The following Friday, after you've finished work, go to the grocery store and purchase only those items you need for the meals you're going to prepare for the following week. Buy sale items in bulk and only buy those items that you can prepare in one day to last for several weeks.

Step Three

The next morning, on Saturday, gather the family, and spend part of the day cooking. Place the prepared meals in freezer containers, label them, and slide them into the freezer so they'll be ready for the upcoming week, or perhaps the next two weeks.

The Benefits Of Money Saving Meals

Now, regardless of whether you work at home or outside the home, the coming week's meals are all prepared and there's much less stress about having to prepare meals after a busy day's work. Not only can you save a lot of money, but you're also creating healthy, nutritious meals for yourself and your family.

Whether you prepare stews, soups, poultry, meat, fish, or vegetable dishes, you'll be surprised at how easy it is to prepare simple meals at home and save money by not eating out or having to order take-out.

Consider how much it costs for the meal at the restaurant, including gas, parking, tips, and taxes. Compare that to the cost of preparing similar meals at home. The difference is substantial, and it's healthier.

As well, there are many terrific recipes you can print out from various recipe sites like FoodTV.com, as well as tuning in the food channel on TV and watching frugal meals being prepared by celebrity chefs in thirty minutes or less.

The old-fashioned recipes from Grandma's day made deliciously wholesome dishes from scratch at minimal cost. Check out my other website - Homemade-Dessert-Recipes.com - for a large collection of easy dessert recipes from Grandma's kitchen.

Money Saving Meal Idea

Here's an example of a quick frugal meal prepared at home:

Instead of ordering a take-out pizza that may cost around $15 to $20, you can prepare small English muffin pizzas for about one-third of the cost. Simply split the muffins, add pizza sauce (or spaghetti sauce), and top with vegetables, meat, and cheese. Pita bread can also be used.

The mini pizzas taste great, and the children will love them. They can also be frozen ahead of time for heating up later.

If you're serious about cutting back on expenses, what better way can you think of to save money than to prepare money saving meals at home? Try it for a week and enjoy the savings.
